I've done a little more digging and it seems that there were a lot of variations with this model. The front of the grip is serrated and the mainspring housing, which I am pretty sure is a replacement, has been stippled.ĭoes this seem to be correct for the time period, except for the mainspring housing? Overall the bluing is 90%+ but there are a few blemishes here and there. The bushing is not marked with NM or a serial number like the newer ones. The back of the barrel bushing is cut to match the plug taper. The other thing new to me is that the end of recoil spring plug is not squared off with a shoulder like the current version but is tapered down to about half of the diameter before it is squared off. Is it normal for there to be no other markings on the frame in this time period? There is a P in a triangle and a Y on one side of the trigger guard and a G on the other. Wilson's Colt book shows that it was made in 1957. The only marking on the frame is the serial number 47XX -NM, which according to R.L. I just picked up a Colt National Match 45 ACP pistol at an auction and have a couple of questions about it.
